John Monds, 54, married to Dr. Kathaleena E. Monds for 21 years. They are the parents of Akintunde, Cazembe, Halima, and Malik. John is a graduate of Morehouse College with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Banking and Finance. John has been a homeschool teacher for the past 20 years. Two of his students have received their college degrees. John has been active in his community through various organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, and the NAACP. He has been very active in the Libertarian Party for over 15 years and was the first member of the party to receive over 1 million votes in any election. John also made history in 2010 when he became the first African American candidate to appear on the ballot for Governor in the State of Georgia. In his various campaigns, John has received more than 1.8 million votes as a Libertarian candidate. John currently resides in Cairo, GA.

What is your position on climate change and the environment?

The climate changes all the time and will continue do so with or without human involvement. The best way to protect the environment is to reduce the impact of the biggest polluter in the world, government

What is your position on national defense?

I will end the foreign wars then bring the troops and drones home. Protect our country's people and property at home.

What is your position on drug legalization?

I support all drug legalization and decriminalization.

What is your position on immigration?

A free country that respects free trade and the right to contract will allow the flow of migrants in and out of the country while respecting private property rights. All subsidies to migrants by government should be prohibited.

What is your position on gun control?

Gun control is best obtained by proper grip and body position. If the government can own it, so should the people.

What is your position on health care?

Get government out of the marketplace.

What is your position on tax policy?

Repeal the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and end the slave tax.

What is your position on monetary policy?

Bring back real money and then end the private banking cartel called the Federal Reserve.

What is your position on fiscal policy and the national debt?

After the 16th Amendment is repealed, apportion the federal budget to the states according to the enumeration in the 2020 census.

What is your position on trade?

In a free country, free people can trade freely.

What is your position on abortion/reproductive rights?

I am personally pro-life but do not believe that the government or I should make that choice for a woman.

What is your position on education policy?

I support the elimination of the Department of Education and getting the federal government out of education all together.

What is your position on Social Security and Medicare?  

I believe that neither one of these programs should have been implemented but since they have been, they should be ended using the most equitable and fair plan to phase them out.

What is your position on energy policy?

Let the free market do its magic.

Why are you running for president?

I have been inspired to run for President by my ancestors who had been enslaved and all the freedom fighters who came before me to make a better world. I want to do my part to secure liberty for those among us today and for those who will come in the future.

 

 

What issues do you believe should be key issues in this race?

Ending the foreign wars and ending the federal slave tax.

What is your strategy to win or effect change in this race?

My strategy to win or effect change in this race is to deliver a liberty message that will garner public support.

What makes you a Libertarian?

My belief in self ownership.

What do you believe the role of the Libertarian Party should be?

The Libertarian Party should do all it can to spread freedom and liberty throughout the world.

What do you believe is the proper role of government?

The proper role of government is to protect individual rights.

What makes you qualified to be president?

No one is truly qualified to run the lives of over 300 million people. I believe that my desire to reduce governments role in people’s lives makes me uniquely qualified as best as anyone else.

If you had one personal or professional reference to make your case to be President, who would you pick, and what would they say about you?

Sharon Harris. Thank you for running. I believe you will reach people with your message of liberty that would not normally be reached by others.

What do you believe has held the Libertarian party back from Electoral Success, and how will you change that?

Ballot access laws written by the other parties. Keep pushing the freedom message.

How will you drive media, and what would you tell Libertarian delegates about your experience and track record in the media?

I have received national media and given interviews on tv, radio, and in newspapers more times than I can remember. I have been in various campaigns for almost 15 years.

If elected, how would you govern as the only elected Libertarian in Washington with Congress controlled by the other two parties?

I would make appointments to liberty minded people and veto non liberty legislation. I would pardon or commute victimless criminals. Repeal anti liberty executive orders.

How will you answer a voter’s concern that they are unwilling to vote for a Libertarian because you are unlikely to win?

I would ask them if given the chance to vote for your freedom or the lesser of two evils again what would be your choice.

What message would you deliver to attract Non-Libertarian voters?

Freedom is better than slavery.

What makes you the best candidate to lead the Libertarian ticket in 2020?

A proven track record of successful Libertarian campaigns.

How would you bridge the factional divide in the Libertarian Party?

I would threaten to bring Wayne Allen Root back to the party if they did not work together.

How would you apply the non-aggression principle to policy?

I would not promote a policy that needs to have aggression to accomplish its goals.

What is your fundraising experience, and how will you finance a national campaign?

I have run a successful statewide campaign for Governor and would use that experience on a nationwide level.

A core team of campaign veterans.
